Mystic Mist IV - Poster

This collection emerged from memory and longing - for the mountains and forests of the small town where I grew up, for rainy days spent watching water fall over fir trees while caught in that particular contemplative mood that only grey skies can create. These images hold the fog that settled over autumn forests as weather turned cold, and the spring mists that lifted each morning to reveal bright days underneath.

I've always associated deep forests with the elves from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings - a connection forged through countless re-readings and a love that never faded. There's something in these woods that speaks of that same ancient, wild magic: Mother Earth's mysterious power that is simultaneously nurturing and a bit frightening in its vastness and indifference. The forest doesn't ask permission to grow or decay, to shelter or to consume.

These images resonate at the frequency of the heart chakra, whose green carries the energy of deep healing for both heart and soul. Working with these pieces - editing them, staring into all that green - I've felt my own energy deeply penetrated by them in a way that is healing, vast, nurturing, mysterious, and settled, but also slightly implacable. They mirror nature's great cycles: the rain that both drowns and gives life, the fog that obscures and protects, the forest that grows in darkness and reaches for light.
